Community Capacity Building Grants Program 2009-10 – closes at 5pm on 30 November 2009
The Tasmanian Government has established the $1 million Community Capacity Building Grants Program to support projects that progress one or more of the strategies in A Social Inclusion Strategy for Tasmania.
The new grant program incorporates the programs previously administered by the Community Development Division through Multicultural Tasmania, the Office of Children and Youth Affairs, the Seniors Bureau and Women Tasmania.
The 2009-10 grants will give priority to initiatives that will:
- promote social inclusion and enable connection with the community for all community members;
- address disadvantage to improve the lives of community members experiencing social exclusion; or
- improve Tasmanians’ participation in the social, economic, political and cultural life of their community.
The Tasmanian Government recognises and values the important role that local government, not-for-profit community organisations and community groups play in delivering projects, programs and events that support Tasmanian communities. The Community Capacity Building Grants Program will be available to these organisations through three tiers:
- Tier one is for grants of up to $2 000
- Tier two is for grants between $2 001 and $20 000
- Tier three is for grants over $20 000.
It is anticipated that the available funding will be allocated to as many organisations as possible. Partnerships between organisations to deliver projects and events are strongly encouraged.
Guidelines, application forms, details about grant writing workshops and supporting information are available from the Community Development Division website at www.dpac.tas.gov.au/divisions/cdd or by emailing cdgrants@dpac.tas.gov.au or by phoning 1800 204 224.
